Where the giraffes are

2006-11-19
There are so many little things I've been storing up in my brain to write. And I may have just forgotten all of them. Friday while I was waiting in the lobby for Jill to come downstairs to go to the bonfire that wasn't, I talked more to the guy who lent me a book when I was locked out. He's from the east coast. I dunno, it was just a nice little conversation. It made me feel good. Yesterday, Jill took me driving. For our trip cross-country, we're going to share the driving so we can go about 800 miles a day, so I need to know how to drive stickshift. In a very large truck that doesn't really like shifting. It was a lot of fun, but kind of nervewracking. For me more than her. But I did okay, and got to be decent at starting on a hill. I still ride the clutch too much. We went driving out at Sand Point, and after about an hour of that I drove over to the builing we juggle in, and she left me there. I haven't juggled in a few weeks. It was pretty awesome. I worked on some stuff by myself, under the leg throws and three in one hand starts, and then did a bunch of passing and feeds with two other people who are around my level. One of them was a really cool girl who I hadn't met before. Then I ended up with the juggling guy and the head guy and we did this triangle pattern that's not too complicated, but it looks pretty cool, and was a lot of fun. Sorry, geeking out. I was glad to get back in that circle, though. I figured out that I can only go two more times, which is kind of a bummer. But not, cause I'll be in New York with the Carmine Street Jugglers, and it will be awesome.
Anyway. Today was pretty much a waste. I was still sick yesterday, but ignored it for other things, and woke up late today, feeling foggy and stuffy and grouchy and overtired. So I took a really long shower, and drank a ton of water, and then went to see Happy Feet with Jill and Dante. It was good. Ummm. We saw it at the Imax theatre, which was awesome. I don't think I would have liked it as much on a regular screen. It has good singing and dancing, as expected, and it was fun. But I wasn't overwhelmed. There were some parts I really liked, the shorter perguins particularly. But there was a kind of implication (Note, some people might view this as a *spoiler* though I don't really think it is)
that it's your fault your child is gay. I mean, the dad drops the egg at the beginning. So then it hatches late, and wants to dance, which is totally wack, because this community is all about the singing. I dunno. Maybe I'm seeing that too sensitively, but Dante agreed a little. But all in all, I had a good time. We originally were going to go with Vanessa, but she didn't answer her phone. She was seeing Casino Royale. OH! Which reminds me of something else. Jill picked me up from juggling, and as we were driving back, we passed the movie theatre in the U district, and the marquee had on one side
CASINO ROYAL
Oh Brosnan where art thou

and on the other side
CASINO ROYALE
With Cheese

I appreciated it. And I got to tell Jill the Pulp Fiction scene, which oddly enough I referenced a few weeks ago, with the Simpsons parody.
Also- tonight I wore my tiger shirt, of lions and tigers in kenya and some guy in the audience recognized it and said "awesome shirt". Jill laughed at him, but I think it's proof that I am not the only one who appreciates these things. For some reason this reminds me of this little wispy pale blonde 11 year old girl at Camp who wore a Trogdor the Burninator sweatshirt.
This has all been very scattered. I'm hungry.
